Mr. Clark is a history buff and came to talk to our class about Flin Flon. Here's some of what we found out!
The open pit started in the fall of 1914. Once they pumped it out the soil was so good they even built a golf course there for the Flin Flon people to use. I'm not sure what ever happened to that golf course. It's a different one than the Phantom Lake Does anyone know?
There was a lake that was named Flin Flon Lake. Under the lake was copper and other minerals. They needed to get rid of the water so they pumped it all out. They dug a hole called the Open Pit. by Jamal
The open pit was a big, ginormous hole. That's how did the mining. It was very dangerous and some people were hurt and some even died. It was muddy. The open pit is behind the car wash. by Livi
